About the venue

Square One is situated in a Grade II* listed building in the historical town on Great Dunmow in Essex. In August of 2022, the restaurant changed hands. The new owners have owned the historic building in which we are situated for over 20 years, so taking on the business seemed like the right thing to do in order to allow the restaurant to grow. The restaurant is being run by Head Chef, Ritchie Ewer, & Restaurant Manager, Kat Byford, who continue to deliver high-quality food & service along with their dedicated team. Earlier in the year, they were awarded 2 AA Rosettes for Culinary excellence & were also awarded Muddy Stilettos, Essex Restaurant of the year in 2021. Most recently, the team gained the TripAdvisor Travellers Choice for 2022 award.
